ICT is taught discretely at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. In Key Stage 3 students follow the national strategy and progress is monitored by Assessing Pupil Progress (APP) each term. Students cover a range of topics including; Control and monitoring, databases, spreadsheets and web publishing.
In Key Stage 4 students undertake either the OCR National qualification in ICT Level 2 or the Edexcel GCSE ICT Single Award.
Students can complete the OCR National course which is based on the latest 2010 specification and composed of 3 units of coursework. There is no examination.

Students who study Edexcel GCSE ICT complete a course which is composed of two units of work including a controlled assessment (60%) and an examination (40%).

In addition to this all students are expected to gain their Functional Skills qualification at Level 1 or Level 2.
Functional skills are the core elements of English, mathematics and ICT that provide individuals with the skills and abilities they need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life, their communities and work.
Any students who are studying for Diplomas, Apprenterships etc at KS4 will be required to achieve a Pass at Level 2.
