At Winton Arts and Media College we aim to inspire young people to become imaginative and independent in their studies. Students develop skills in a range of visual media as a stepping stone into understanding themselves and the world they live in. They will have the opportunity for group work as well as working independently so that they become adaptable in different creative situations
Pupils will study the work of relevant artists, photographers, craftspeople and designers as inspiration for ideas. They are encouraged to verbalise and write about, their own and other artists? motivations. Through methods of observation pupils will collect and study subject matter, carefully recording shape, colour, pattern, textural and tonal qualities.
Pupils are encouraged to express their own ideas and listen to others? in an open, positive environment, learning that they will derive as much nspiration and support from each other as well as from us.
We have strong links with the Arts University College Bournemouth and regularly have visits and portfolio days where higher education students and lecturers work with the pupils to develop their portfolio of work. This benefits the pupils by showing them the diversity of the creative world and the career opportunities within it.
