Executive Principal’s Welcome
As Executive Principal of Glenmoor and Winton Academies, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the website. We are proud to be the two of the highest performing non selective 11-16 schools in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch and incredibly privileged to be part of the multi Academy Chain United Learning. My role as Executive Principal allows me to work with the current Principal, Mr. Ingram on maintaining the incredibly high standards set at the Academies as well as looking at the strategic long-term futures of Glenmoor and Winton within the United Learning trust.
Ofsted have graded Winton Academy as outstanding in all areas in December 2018 and we look forward to Glenmoor being inspected in the near future. Below are a few quotes from the recent Ofsted inspection report which captures the Academies guiding principles of hard work, effort and the importance of ‘student manners and behaviour’;
‘Hard work has resulted in life changing outcomes for pupils in this area of Bournemouth’
‘Pupils academic outcomes and personal development are outstanding’
‘The behaviour of pupils is outstanding and pupils’ behaviour in lessons is excellent’
‘Leaders are driven and passionate about the quality of education and improving pupils’ futures’
Glenmoor & Winton Academies motto is ‘High Achievement, High Standards’. As Executive Principal, my time will be split between Glenmoor and Winton and other United Learning schools. Continuing to grow Glenmoor and Winton’s local, regional and national reputation is a top priority alongside ensuring the very best teachers are in front of your son/daughter in the classroom. Most important of all will be to continue to ensure every young person at the Academies gets the very best education we can provide. There is no substitute for an excellent education culminating in a set of GCSE results that can your son or daughter has worked incredibly hard for and can be equally proud of. Glenmoor is currently in the top 40 highest performing schools in the country and Winton one of the top 25 boys’ schools in the country for academic outcomes and student progress. We are all rightly proud of these achievements, but are restless for further success and the notion that every school should be seeking continuous improvement.
I am a strong believer in hard work and effort being the main drivers for school success. The Academies are very much advocating the notion that ‘excellence is a habit’ that can be learnt, developed and nurtured over time. This ‘excellence’ stems from sheer hard work and perseverance underpinned by the student charter entitled ‘The GW Way’. Every student understands the GW Way and what that represents in terms of expected behaviours both in and out of school. The GW Way is at the front of the student planner and on the Academies website if visitors to this page wish to view it in more detail.
Like any highly successful organisation, the Academies continue to strive for improvement and are never satisfied. This ethos contributes towards the feeling that Glenmoor and Winton wish to viewed as ‘exceptional schools’ by the community to which they serve. I remain as determined and passionate as ever to ensure the Academies continue towards this goal and this is shared by Mr. Ingram.
Please do not hesitate to contact myself or the Principal, Mr. Ingram if you have any questions about the Academies. We both adopt an open door policy and welcome feedback at every level. Thank you for your ongoing support of the Academies.
Very best wishes
Glenmoor & Winton Academies
