Hello, my name is Archie Birks and I am the Head Boy at Winton Academy. I would not have seen myself in this position in Year 7, but the opportunities I have had whilst at Winton have helped me develop into someone who stands out from others and someone who is now part of a team that leads with integrity.
One of my main goals is for the Academy to be recognised for helping others amongst the community. Being the top performing Academies regionally and within United Learning is very impressive, but what also counts is a good relationship with the community surrounding the Academies. My vision for this will include supporting more local groups and charity events. I am a strong supporter of the Academies’ STRIVE agenda, which I want to embody in every student who enters GW.
The Academy offers a range of opportunities and clubs every week like the Duke of Edinburgh’s award and co-curricular activities in almost every subject. There are also many opportunities to partake in workshops, trips and residential visits as part of Academy life; I would strongly advise your son or daughter to participate in these clubs and opportunities as the key aim for them is to learn and enjoy further expanding their enjoyment of all subjects.
Along with the Head Girl, Cara Snowden, and the rest of the prefect team we will be looking to leave a noticeable difference around the Academies and to keep unity and maximum effort at all times in the Academy day. We will aim to show students how to be resilient and to STRIVE for their dreams and goals they want to achieve in life. We will seek to find those achievements in everyone and support them in following the United Learning motto: “The Best in Everyone”.
Don’t wait for dreams, work for them…..#GWProud.
