Hello, my name is Rohan Ewels and I am the Head Boy at Winton and Glenmoor Academies and if I could go back in time to my year seven self I would have never of thought I would have the honour to be standing here as Head Boy. It is thanks to the opportunities this school provides the pupils with that have enabled me to achieve this position so firstly I would like to thank the school hugely for such amazing opportunities and life lessons I have been given over my years at the academies.
Ever since walking through the doors on day when I was 11 years old, I have always entered with a smile on my face and I leave with my head high as every day I learn something new. My main push for the following academic year is to pass on my drive and determination to every pupil so when the going gets tough the pupils can bounce back and overcome their weaknesses whether that’s in sports when you need to pick yourself back up and go in again or in academics when you are left bamboozled after looking at a question you work as hard as you can to overcome it. In the words of Muhammad Ali “Don’t quit. Suffer today and live the rest of your life as a champion”.
Along with the amazing prefect team and Head Girl we will strive to make the school the best it can possibly be. We will work with the school to help organise: charity events, inter-house competition in all areas (the arts, academics, sports), help organises after school clubs and on top of that we will ensure that all pupils are happy at school and are enjoying themselves. Also, we will promote unique opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh and the arts award.
During my time as Head Boy, I solemnly swear to help guide the pupils to achieve their personal goals and encourage them to strive because if we all strive great things will come whether that is in academic grades or in sporting achievement. Strive is the foundations for building a successful future. Every pupil is unique in their own personal ways; each pupil is talented at something and it is my goal to find it and watch it develop and grow into something wonderful, special and dazzling.
Enjoy your summer and I look forward to welcoming pupils, teacher and parents back for a new year in September 2017.
The future is in our hands – the possibilities are endless.
