The Excellence Programme

The Academies strive to ensure that all students reach their potential and develop a multitude of skills to become well-rounded citizens.  The Excellence Programme offers pupils the opportunity to work through a unique enrichment programme tailored to allow all members to learn and develop a rich range of interpersonal skills which they can apply to their own area of interest.  The Excellence Programme runs each year with students nominating themselves into the programme, with guidance and support from teachers, coaches and parents. The focus for this years members is to demonstrate outstanding determination and enthusiasm to develop in their area of interest along with an interest in learning new skills to better themselves.

Students are encouraged to pursue their individual area of passion which could range from sport, music, technology, classics, or the arts. Previous talents in the programme have been extremely widespread, including fencing, chess, dancing, boxing, athletics, and computer design.  If students are successful in their application, they will enter the programme, meeting regularly with our Excellence Programme coordinator and have the opportunity to take part in a unique enrichment programme focusing on attributes to help them succeed in their individual area of interest. Students over the year will complete workshops, take part in extracurricular clubs, record of their achievements, push themselves to beat personal bests, enter new competitions, support the school community and develop their skills which will inevitably strengthen their area of interest. The programme is ongoing and hopes that mentored students will adopt the skills to balance extra-curricular activities and academic progress throughout their school lives to become healthy, successful members of the community. Students are encouraged to support the growth of their interest individually and across the Academy, becoming ambassadors for their activity whilst supporting others.

We are excited to use Teams and Satchel One (Show My Homework) as online platforms for delivering the programme along with face-to-face meetings, enabling students to balance their passion, studies, and self-development. The content of the programme is evolving, and this year aims to provide a personalised enrichment programme, covering broad topics such as mindset, overcoming challenges, leadership, organisation and time management, alongside careers guidance, and current affairs.
