Duke of Edinburgh Award

Introduction

Glenmoor and Winton Academies offer Year 9 and 10 students a chance to participate in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE). The DofE programme has been successful in enhancing school learning and achievement, securing personal and social development and encouraging good citizenship. The Award is recognised internationally and is well regarded by Higher Education establishments and employers.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award gives opportunities for personal development and achievement through community and social involvement, adventure, and the discovery of new talents and interests.  The programme is modular and has three Award levels. Each level consists of four sections which prove commitment, fitness, tolerance of others and teamwork. You will recognise all of these qualities as those held in high esteem in our society.

 

 

PRESENTATION

Assessor Reports

Assessor reports have to be completed for each section. Your assessor can be any adult as long as they are not directly related to the participant. The assessor would normally be the person leading the activity i.e. football coach or piano teacher.

If you are struggling to find an assessor then you can ask a teacher to write your report .You will need to provide them with a diary of what you have done each week and how you have improved.

Assessors need to provide a written report in one of 2 ways:
  1. The best way is via https://edofe.org/assessor You just need to give them your eDofE ID number and they can enter the report online.
  2. Alternatively, they can fill in the assessor report card in your welcome pack. You will then need to photograph/scan the card and upload it to eDofE yourself.

Choosing Activities

The following lists should give you some ideas for choosing activities for each section.

Once you have decided on your activities, you need to fill out the Bronze Planner with the relevant info ready to upload to eDofE.

eDofE is the online system used by students to add evidence of their activities and to get them signed off. It is important that students keep their accounts up to date regularly. Here is some documentation that may help:
