Year 9 National Cup Final

The Year 9 Football B team managed to finish a staggering cup run which started way back in September 2019 with a first-round victory against St Georges School from Southampton. This continued with some excellent football being played over the next five rounds, including wins against schools from Devon, Surrey, and Manchester. This led to a delayed final, which no one knew if it would ever get played. The ESFA did a fantastic job in such difficult times and managed to secure the home of Premier League club Crystal Palace, Selhurst Park for the final.

The boys were treated like Premier League stars for the day and loved every second of it. The game didn't quite go our way in a nervous first half, where the opponents, Hurstmere School from Kent took and early 3-0 lead, which took us into half time. However, the team showed tremendous character and resilience to bring that score back to 3-2, goals from Harrison Marsh and Bradley Walker. Making the last 20 minutes very nerve wracking and interesting. Hurstmere managed to grab a goal to gain a 2-goal advantage again, but that didn't stop the GW barrage continue on the Hurstmere goal. A Superb defensive clearance, led by another strong tackle in midfield, finished with an outstanding Charlie White finish, set up and manic 5 minutes.

We unfortunately couldn't find an equaliser but what a fantastic day out for everyone involved, Mr Doyle and I were joined by Mrs Viney, Miss Ford and Mr Scott who were all so proud of the team. The heart, desire, and commitment the team showed throughout the game was incredible and epitomises what GW is all about.

Glenmoor Academy Behaviour Hub

We are delighted to announce that Glenmoor has been named as one of 22 schools awarded with 'Lead school' status in the new government initiative launched to support 500 schools in improving behaviour culture. This is not only a fantastic opportunity to continue with our outward facing attitude and support schools across the country, but another acknowledgement of our phenomenal achievements over recent years. Both the 'Teaching School' and 'Behaviour' Hub status are recognition of the consistency we apply and high standards we set for ourselves and the GW community. Being part of these amazing programmes, will enable us to not only support others but continue to develop our own community through continuous improvement.
