Glenmoor & Winton Academies motto is "High Achievement, High Standards". We believe that every child matters and every lesson counts, creating well rounded citizens achieving academic excellence. Glenmoor & Winton is a highly inclusive school that caters for the needs of all students. We ensure our most able students are stretched academically and students with special educational needs and disabilities are expertly supported, allowing the Academies to ensure the best in everyone.

Situated on one of the most beautiful parts of the South Coast, Glenmoor & Winton Academies are two successful, single sex academies that benefit from a shared campus and teaching staff.

With both academies judged as securely Good in the summer of 2015 and well on their way to becoming Outstanding, this is an excellent time to become part of the team.

A unified approach to teaching and learning is manifest across both schools with a Senior Leadership Team praised for their "pursuit of excellence for all students". The "shared determination to succeed at the highest levels" is apparent amongst both pupils and staff at these schools which, since becoming academies in 2013, have demonstrated significant improvement to create an "outstanding learning experience" for students.

As part of United Learning, Glenmoor & Winton's progress is overseen by Dame Sally Coates, United Learning's Director of Southern Secondary Academies. The academies form a cluster of United Learning schools and academies in the area and work together with these and other schools to great effect. Partnerships are underway in terms of sport, teaching and learning, pupil experience and there is a strong focus on CPD for staff at all levels.

Completing teacher training at GW has meant being stretched and supported to the full. It's been a challenge, yes, but I've not been alone in facing up to it. The support has been exceptional throughout. Where else would a headteacher have given up whole hours of his time to observe my lessons and to talk me through his feedback?  Where else would my mentors have acted as friends as well as colleagues and professional advisers? With their help, I feel I have managed to meet the high expectations  that the school maintains in all key areas of teaching. The GW non-negotiables have forced me to plan and teach in such a way that I am confident I would now be able to perform well in any school environment and meet the criteria of any educational employer.

Penny Day, NQT

Working at Glenmoor and Winton Academies has meant that I've been really able to put my teaching to the test. Staff are supported, encouraged and challenged to trial new ideas and strategies in the classroom that means teachers can become the best that they can be. I'm in my third year at GW now and feel that I've been supported to grow and develop in all aspects of my career. No day is the same, the students are wonderful and staff are hugely supported by the senior leadership team. Staff and students are happy at Glenmoor and Winton and it's a pleasure to be part of such a thriving, proactive and  growing school.'

Danielle Fisher, ITT Co-ordinator/English teacher

Working at Glenmoor and Winton academies is always an exciting experience. Since starting off at the academies, I have been able to progress in new roles over the last 5 years. In each new role I have taken on, I have been fully supported and stretched by my line manager and SLT. In my leadership role and whilst teaching I have been encouraged to take on new challenges and to also to take risks. This enabled me to develop confidence in my leadership as I knew I would not be judged if I made mistakes; only supported. This motivates me to get better and better at my job every day. The students at Glenmoor and Winton Academies are a credit to the local community. They are respectful, have excellent behaviour and strive to be successful in all of their subjects. Because of this lessons can be engaging and teachers can share the love of their subject to the students. Students are proud to be apart of the academies due to the high expectations and academic achievements. The main reason as to why I enjoy working at Glenmoor and Winton academies is student's progress/achievement is always at the heart of our mantra. All staff work hard to improve outcomes in order to enhance student's life choices. This ranges from from teaching the students extremely well but also offering them a vast range of extracurricular activities. Students are encouraged to become leaders, to demonstrate teamwork and to become resilient. I have had a great experience working at Glenmoor and Winton academies. I feel very lucky to be part of this thriving academic environment.

Tegen Ridgway

I am currently undergoing my second Academic year at Glenmoor and Winton Academies. Throughout my time at the academies I have been able to observe outstanding teaching in all subject areas, which had been invaluable when undergoing my NQT year. Staff are really friendly, supportive and very forthcoming with teaching resources. The school is focused on giving students the best opportunity to learn, excel past perceived expectations and gain an all round student experience. This is achieved by an unbelievable work ethic across all departments, ensuring that our delivery, knowledge and student behaviour is at its optimum. Not only do student receive a great education at this school, which is evident in their achievements, but they are also given opportunities of a lifetime. Whether that is through trips abroad on sports tours, skiing and visiting locations of Historical significance or representing school teams in county cup finals. I believe that these qualities are what makes this school an outstanding school to work for. The school is very supportive of its staffs future aspirations and allows staff to progress at their individual rates, with many opportunities to grow.

Samuel Lanaham

The teachers and heads are all kind and caring. Each and every one of them wants the best for all of us. You can talk to them about anything from if you are struggling in class or if you are upset about something at home; they will always find a way to help.

We have many opportunities to take on responsibilities, such as Head Boy and Head Girl, prefects, sports prefects, student voice representative and many more.

Finally, sports and drama are great at the school. Netball is especially good as the girls’ Year 8 team have recently become the national champions and we also have a connection with the Rugby London Irish. A couple of months ago, drama students staged the show Loserville which was a great success.

I think that Glenmoor and Winton Academies are great schools and I feel proud to be one of their many students."

Josie, Year 7

Our schools excel in sport and are in partnership with other schools that are a part of the London Irish Rugby team. We also enter frequent netball, cricket, gymnastics and handball competitions against other schools and are regularly successful. Inter-house competitions occur often throughout the terms. We have the privilege of our own handball Olympian, John Pearce, as part of our P.E Department and many other skilled teachers who aspire to inspire us as students.

We are constantly in cooperation with younger primary schools in the area to influence the younger generations and encourage them in any way possible. Our best role models are chosen for sport and academic events that take place at primary schools, for instance, many pupils from Year 9 last year were used in a project with Year 4 students from a local primary school which gave them the opportunity to cooperate with older people and experience working with new and different people.

Our school is outstanding in many prospects and is a brilliant option when it comes to an amazing experience of education.

Alyssa, Year 9

As soon as I walked through the door of the school as a Year 6 pupil I knew this was the school I wanted to come to. It just felt right.

Ella, Year 9

The extra-curricular opportunities here are amazing. I love how much sport I can do but how teachers make sure you balance that out with a commitment to your studies.

Corey, Year 10

This school was my first choice even though it had just had a bad OFSTED report when I started. I knew I would be happy here. Four years later it has transformed in so many ways but I still love it."

Lewis, Year 10

I have no doubt that I will get the qualifications I need in order to progress to higher education with the teachers here behind me.

Tilly, Year 11
